Friday, November 7, 2003So I'm at the airport right now waiting for the plane.I can't believe I'm done. What a phenomenal amount of junk done. All the pilots and airline attendants are lined up at the gate and supposedly we're 6 minutes from boarding. The flight is ontime. The busride here was really odd. I was picked up by super shuttle at 3:30pm even though my flight was 7:30pm and I got to talking with the busdriver. He told me about his dreams of becoming a cinematographer and how he was trying to earn a living as a bus driver until he could get himself into a position to do his dream job. We then went to Stanford where we picked up a girl who was a med student at Stanford and a guy that was just checking out the campus to get a feel for MBA schools. The girl was really impressive. She was originally from Singapore and then immigrated to Canada and then America. She graduated from Berkeley in 2001 (same year as me) with a MCB and Environmental Biology degree then applied to Stanford medical school got in and deferred her admissions to go to Oxford under a Marshall scholarship. When I asked her why she decided to go into medicine, her response was really awesome. She said that she had always been interested in medicine and had gone to Ecuador (and a ton of other places in South America) to help out the understaffed physicians in the area with the people that were too poor to afford decent healthcare. She said that through that experience she felt like she was making such an impact and just knew it was right for her. with medicine she knows that her time will be put to good use or something to that effect. She seemed so sure. Doh, people are lining up for seating. Weird considering that seats are already assigned. posted @ 06:44 PM PST [link] Crunch crunch crunch! Depart: British Airways flight 287 Heathrow, Sun Nov 16th Arrive: SFO, US, Sun, Nov 16th 4:40pm I just need to get *everything* done by then! Then around 3:30pm I'll get a pick up from SuperShuttle.
