Tuesday, September 21, 20045 in the morning updates5:26am, and I'm about to finish wrapping up some backend work... So while I'm waiting, I decided it was high time to blog a bit. Firstly, I'd like to say that I finally walked away with some money during poker night. I think the books that Wendy got me from the library have really helped. :-) My mom got back from Taiwan/Hong Kong this week-- she visited my Uncle's family who have just moved to HK. Time permitting, I might go back to Taiwan/HK this year and see some family, as I haven't been back in at least 6 years now. The weekends are nice. I really get some time to myself and there's a lot to do. I want to try to organize something (possibly this weekend?) and have a housewarming. Not a lot of space so we might have to keep it small. Last weekend, I spent a good chunk of time setting up our computer environment at home & installing fedora core 2 on this cheap 366 p2 laptop I bought for $150 (z505r). It was sold for parts, and I just to happened to have enough remaining parts to upgrade it. It now has a 9GB HD (previously hd-less), 320MB RAM, and a DWL-650 wireless card (and running the linux 2.6 + KDE). I have to hand it to the Redhat folks. They really are doing a great job keeping it alive. When I'm not so sleepy I'll post up all the specs on how the install went (possibly a step-by-step). The hardest parts were getting the stupid wireless NIC to work since PCMCIA loads after the network card by default-- (who thought of doing that??).
