Friday, August 22, 2003Audi is damaged (AGAIN)
"They're really professional and got my car in and out within a day's notice. Awesome." From my previous post. Ok, I was *wrong*. I spoke *too soon*.
The gruesome details of the new body damage to my Audi: ====================================== So I happily get my butt back into the German Auto Body and guess what I notice from about 3-5 feet away? Something is wrong with the rear bumper of my car. Upon further inspection I notice that there seems to be something off with the normally sleek curves of my Audi's behind.
Ahhhh...a dent. Not just any dent mind you! A dent from a freaking license plate holder on my less-than-one-month old Audi that I just brought into the damn place to fix. I look even closer and I see the letters from the damn license plate holder and the screw that held it imprinted on the car's rear bumper on the painted area! A fucking horrific moment!
Can you freaking believe this shit?!? Ok...so I calm down and I enter the main lobby and they page the owner. He immediately takes one look at the thing and is shocked *and* peeved. We start searching the lot for the car that could have damaged my car. After the 4-5th car I said: "Uhm. I actually am not too concerned about which car did the damage."
The owner was actually pretty cool about it and said: "Yeah it's just for my own records, we're definitely going to fix this for free." We take care of the paperwork involved and as I'm about to step into my car to drive away I notice black oil spots all over the driver side carpet.
Again. WTF?!?!?! This is a brand new car and I have oil spots all over my carpet, my rear bumper was imprinted upon and no longer new. At this point, I'm feeling pretty angry. The owner again was very cool and got one of the mechanics to take a look at the bumper and wash the carpet. At the end of the day, I expressed to him how I was disappointed in the service and wanted compensation for my time.
He apologizes offers me free labor on my original repairs, says he'll give me the free rental car for however long my car is in the shop, and will do the repairs sans-charge for the damage that the mechanics made.
I was rather impressed by his attitude and the way he handled the situation. I know some of the other body places out there could have tried to deny any kind of problem. Assuming that everything goes well and I get my car fixed back to normal conditions, I'll be a happy camper.

Audi is getting fixed!
As I write this right now, my A4 is getting fixed at German Auto Body off of:
German Auto Body 444 Robert Avenue Santa Clara, CA 95050
They're the Audi A4 specialists in the Bay Area. Reputedly the best body shop by various Audiworld members. If you go there, tell them Steve Lin sent you. They're really professional and got my car in and out within a day's notice. Awesome.
While they don't directly sell the Rieger and Oettinger A4 body kits, they do install them. I was quoted roughly $550, for the install of the side skirts and the bumper. That brings the total for an Oettinger upgrade to around $2k. I figure I'll get 19's as well, which will be another $2k and the custom woofers in the trunk another $2k. So $6k total. Yeesh, maybe in a few more months :)
At the bodyshop, I managed to get a glimpse of tricked out Audi RS6. It was *badass*!!! It had a 450HP-V8, custom exhaust, what looked like 18's, and a badass bodykit. The sticker was outrageous: 88.9k. But daaamn what a badass vehicle.
Got around to eat with Dave who's been in Korea for AMAT, for a while. Where you ask? Sushi Maru of course! The best sushi boat place (that's reasonably priced) in the Bay. Mmmmm Mmmmm...tasty!
And last but not least, thanks to Tom and Jeff for helping my car-less self get around today! Yeesh, otherwise I dunno how I'd be getting home. Hope I get my car soon, else I might be carpooling to the party at the bluetattoo, which actually might not be such a bad idea since I won't hafta drive >:)

I hate how there's crap on the freeways around the Bay Area. I think something fell off a car in front of me because there was this long spinning piece of metal that was hurtling back towards me as I'm going like 60+ mph.
The result? Smashed up foglight, grill is gone, bumper is jacked.
This has *not* been my best week. I was here till 1:30am last night working, and the next day, I get called in to work for a meeting, which I'm now missing because of my stupid car problems. Sigh, sigh, sigh!

Mini-updates: Friday: Soju & food (spicy squid + tofu) at the Korean place next to BackBeats. Met some ppl celebrating the fact that Jenny Gu was back in the Bay Area. Convinced a couple of the guys there to come play poker with us the next night. Ended up crashing on Jeff's couch out of exhaustion.
Saturday: Went home, took a shower, ate with mom at Sushi Maru! Yum Yum. Then called up James Yu and convinced him to come to play poker with us! More the merrier. Beforehand, we went to Charlton's house for a luau party-- great food and great times (sorry no pics, since we forgot to bring a photo camera). Turns out Charlton will be going to Barbados for a week! Lucky!!
Hopefully sometime this year when I finally accrue enough vacation, I'll get a chance to go somewhere in the Carribean with Wendy. Maybe after her apps for MBA school. I really hope she gets into Stanford, then she'd be in the Bay Area again and we'll be together!
So after the party, we headed back to Jeff's to play poker. Eight people ended up showing for a crazy night of alcohol, and texas hold 'em straight up, last man standing. I ended up being among the last three players, with Dave getting an incredible 9's over A's beating out my 9's over 5's. In the end, Dave won the big pot against Tom, but was nice enough to split it with the Jeff to cover beer. What a nice guy!
Sunday: Get home at 4am, sleep till 1:30. Eat w/mom @ Pho Hoa, then grab some Q-cup and go home to lounge. Then got 70 pages from my work pager and did some work-- kinda.
Turned out to be quite an eventful weekend!
