Getting older
So, I went out with Tom on Saturday to Palace BBQ after hitting the gym and playing some Tekken 5.

In the hour that we were waiting for a seat, I took a look around and noticed that we were no longer the "young" adults in the room. We were just the adults. Tom and I got to talking, and I started to realize that we have gotten a lot older.

We're no longer the next door neighbors who hit up the arcade rows for hours after school. We don't walk around from bus stop to bus stop trying to get to Valley Fair or Eastridge. When we order stuff, we're not the punk kids that don't have jobs. When we joy ride, we're don't do it in the hoopty cars.

Those days seem so far in the past, yet haven't faded or dulled in my mind's eye. They were filled with so much sheer emotive depth and newness that they've left indelible marks upon my soul. Everything experienced was raw and powerful. The first taste of freedom, the first car, the first breakup, the first everything.

In walking down memory lane, it gave me a sense of contentment to see how far we've travelled together. I could see how much road we had covered since our days as school children; how close we were to our dreams that had seemed so far away.

We have much to be thankful for:

We're both getting married this year to very beautiful ladies; have great jobs and wonderful friends to share our lives with.

Best of all, we're still here and the road ahead is bright.
