The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
I couldn't resist.

I finally got myself one of those GameBoy Advance SP systems that Fry's had for $89.99 and bought a game cartridge for it. It's amazingly lightweight, has a backlit display and is color. In a word: awesome!

It's literally amazing how much game technology has advanced in the last 10+ years. I remember my first gameboy in 7th/8th grade. It had a non-color LCD, required 4 double A batteries and was the size of a small paperback but nearly 2/3rds the width of a brick, and probably weighed close to a pound+. I don't remember exactly how long the batteries lasted, but I remember having to replace them every other week.

Within a few years, they came out with the Neo Geo and Sega handhelds that retailed for like $600-700 bucks, required 6 batteries, was even larger than the gameboy but had a color LCD and backlit displays. They even had add on features like TV tuners.

These days the GameBoy Advance SP is half the length of a pack of cards and roughly the same width. It's extremely lightweight and has an internal battery.

On top of that it's backwards compatible with older catridges and runs a full-fledged 32 bit ARM (RISC) processor.

Here are the specs:
===============
CPU: 32-Bit ARM with embedded memory
Memory: 32 KB with 96 KB VRAM (in CPU), 256 KB WRAM (external of CPU)
Screen: 2.9-inch reflective TFT color LCD
Display Size: 1.6 by 2.4 inches (40.8 by 61.2 mm)
Resolution: 240 x 160 pixels in a wide-screen aspect ratio
Colors: 511 simultaneous colors from a palette of 32,768
Software: Fully compatible with Game Boy and Game Boy Color game paks
Light Source: Front light integrated with LCD
Size (closed): 3.3 by 3.23 by .96 inch
Weight: Approximately 5 ounces
Power Supply: Rechargeable lithium-ion battery
Battery Life: 10 hours continuous play with light on; 18 hours with light off; 3 hours recharging

And as for the game, it's reminiscent of the SNES games with just as much depth in terms of gameplay-- really a lot of fun!
