03/03/2003: "Guava and Grass Jelly Drink"

Guava and grass jelly drink sitting in my fridge,
Make me so very, very thirsty while at work,
Make my mind roam,
Make me anxious yet happy,
Make me want to go home.

Grass jelly and guava drink make me wish,
Of places close, where I can sleep, and be free,
And sometimes lie idly,
In the Sun, with arms and legs,
Outstretched on green grass,
Hoping to catch a morsel of shrimp or river-fish,
And let the simple day pass.

Grass jelly and guava drink,
Make me think,
Of different times and people,
Languages and lives,
Away from the drudgery,
Of the rat and the race.

Close in the fridge,
In the place that I dwell,
Await sweet guava droplets and grass-jelly drink too,
For the delicious moment to remind me,
Of youth, of dreams, of home,
Sweet home.
